Examples of Brands Embracing the Regenerative Concept

Many businesses remain either insufficiently aware or are yet to fully harness the potential of their operations. However, some trailblazers and early adopters have moved beyond sustainability, excelling in regenerative approaches. They’re not only rejuvenating the resources they rely upon but are also enhancing their capabilities and interconnected systems, achieving greater efficiency in the process.

Let’s explore some compelling examples of brands that have pivoted to a regenerative approach, as highlighted during the SB’21 San Diego conference:

Patagonia is a founding member of the Regenerative Organic Certified™ Program. This holistic agricultural certification sees the company focusing on animal welfare on grasslands, justice for farmers and workers, and stringent soil health and land management standards. They incorporate the best of both regenerative agriculture and organic farming methodologies.

Timberland, The North Face, and other VF Corp brands are collaborating with Terra Genesis International to develop the world’s first regenerative rubber supply system for footwear. This builds on Timberland’s existing efforts to source leather using regenerative practices, in partnership with the Savory Institute.

Unilever began revolutionizing its supply chain in early 2021 by ensuring a living wage for all its first-tier suppliers. Their mission is to “set a new living wage standard by guaranteeing that everyone who directly provides goods and services to Unilever earns a wage or income to sustain a decent standard of living.” Unilever is nurturing the economy and facilitating growth by ensuring workers receive a viable living wage.

PepsiCo announced an ambitious target to adopt regenerative farming practices across 7 million acres by 2030. Their goal extends to transforming practices across all agricultural areas.
